"ON THE RADAR" Preview:

The door closed with a resounding click.

This was much more ominous than it seemed. Many dangerous things go click before they kill you; the sound a timer makes, before it sets off a bomb, the mandibles of a giant spider, just before he injects you with the poison, and the door of the interrogation room, just before you are left with Sergeant Donna. Hogatti was now toast and he didn’t even know it.

“Now what?” Hogatti bravely asserted, “You planning on being tough, girlie?”

Being accomplished in the art of setting the stage, Donna did not answer, and instead quietly walked over to the two-way glass and drew the shades.

“Trying to scare me?” Hogatti continued, “You got big ovaries baby, You are going to be so busted that Humpty Dumpty will look absolutely terrific standing next to you.”

Some people insist upon digging their own grave. Donna still didn’t answer and walked over to the door, locked it with a deft motion and then turned and gave Boss a small smile. We have all seen smiles like this, on cobras, or mountain lines… just before they eat you.

“You’re bluffing,” Hogatti tried, sounding a bit less cocksure.

Meanwhile, the still silent Donna has pulled the live wires out of the back of the billowing fan. The wire is long enough to reach Boss Hogatti, who is still handcuffed to his desk. Rather than respond to his verbal sallies, Donna instead sparked them together meaningfully and glanced toward Hogatti’s crotch. It is at moments like this that we all make important choices.
